A Recurring Deposit (RD) calculator is a free online tool that tells you the maturity value of your RD before you open one. Instead of working through quarterly-compounding maths by hand, you enter your monthly deposit, the interest rate and the tenure, and the calculator instantly shows your total investment, the interest you'll earn, and the final maturity amount.
RDs are offered by nearly every bank and by India Post. You deposit a fixed sum every month for a chosen tenure — typically between 6 months and 10 years — and the bank pays compound interest on it, usually compounded every quarter.
RD interest calculation formula
Each monthly instalment earns compound interest only from the day it is deposited until maturity. P is the monthly instalment, r is the annual interest rate, and n is the number of months that instalment remains deposited. Maturity is the sum of every instalment's grown value — this calculator runs that exact calculation for every month of your tenure.
